Review: Wagamama Noodle Lab

Half of the Soho Noodle Lab menu consists of a selection of the dishes on offer at Wagamama branches across the country, while the other half features a range of limited edition meals, at a reduced price in order for them to collect feedback. It was great to see that a number of these were vegan, showing that Wagamama is listening to feedback that we want more plant-based options!

Review: Shoryu Ramen

On a chilly evening just before Christmas, I visited the newly opened Shoryu Ramen in the Westgate shopping centre for dinner with my boyfriend Jamie. We received a warm welcome and were taken to our seats with the beating of a traditional Japanese drum and ‘irasshaimase’ greeting shouted by all the staff.

Review: Vegan Christmas Dinner at Zizzi

The booking experience is great, as menu selections and deposit payments are all done via an online portal, meaning little hassle for the party planner, important when there are about 16 of you. The menu, as always with Zizzi, is really clearly labelled and caters for most dietary requirements, as well as including a box for notes if you have any specific allergies or other concerns.

Review: Happy Friday Kitchen

I decided on the Mac Daddy, a fried chicken-style seitan burger, topped with mac โ€™nโ€™ cheese, in a bun with salad, with fries on the side. The seitan burger was perfectly crispy on the outside and the texture was pretty accurate to what you expect from a chicken burger. The seasoning was spot on too, so youโ€™re left with something quite realistic.

Rola Wala has firmly replaced Leon as my go-to great value healthy ‘fast food’ option in town. With more than half of the food on offer being vegan, they serve up rolls and bowls packed with nutrients, and as I discovered, more importantly with flavour.

Review: Byron Burger

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the burger was the best part about the meal. It was nice and crispy on the outside but soft in the middle, flavoured with lots of spices including cumin, with chickpeas and kidney beans. Essentially though this was a more polished version of a veganย burger that me and Jamie have made at home quite often.
