Review: Byron Burger Part 2

You may be surprised to see me revisiting Byron Burger after my notoriously bad experience there last year. I must admit I was hesitantly curious when I saw that they relaunched a brand new vegan burger and an overhaul of their veggie and vegan options a couple of weeks ago.

Review: Quod Restaurant & Bar

This week I had the opportunity to visit Quod on High Street for a meal with colleagues. Quod change their menu seasonally, and due to the dining situation, I called in advance to double check they’d have something vegan on the menu to avoid any awkwardness.

Review: Brewdog

So I’d ordered the Hail Seitan burger, a BBQ seitan steak served with hummus and kale. The burger itself was very meat-like, so much so that I had to check there wasn’t a meat version of the same burger on the menu.

Review: The Folly Vegan Tasting Menu

A last-minute tip off from a friend led me to learn that The Folly was launching a vegan tasting menu, the test run being last Sunday evening. I wouldn’t ordinarily be looking out for vegan events at The Folly as they have nothing vegan-friendly on their regular dining menu at all, but a look at the tasting menu suggested this had the makings of a really great experience…

Review: The Nosebag

I had heard lots of good things about the veggie options at The Nosebag in town, so arranging a catch up with a friend felt like a good opportunity to try the place out. I was happy this weekend however to be proved wrong…

Review: Rick’s Vegetarian

The vegan breakfast itself was delicious and incredibly filling, particularly great value for the price. This has got to be the go-to place for any veggie students with a hangover this term! A big plate with falafel, beans, mushrooms, hash browns, houmous, spinach, and a tomato, are served with a portion of toast on the side.

Review: Banana Tree

I’ve visited Banana Tree a couple of times before when I wasn’t vegan, and felt that it was quite hit and miss – if you ordered well, you’d love it, but if you made the wrong choice, you’d leave feeling pretty disappointed. Exploring the vegetarian menu though (most of which is also vegan), I found myself faced with way too many choices.

Review: The Coconut Tree

A glance at the menu of recently-opened The Coconut Tree on St. Clements suggests it’s a relative haven for vegans. With no less than 16 vegan dishes, visiting was one of those rare occasions a vegan finds themselves in the position of having too much choice.
