Review: Le Pain Quotidien

Inside the front entrance is an enticing display of breads, jams and spreads, and sweet and savoury treats, much of which is vegan. You can either grab a muffin and a cuppa to go, or wait to be seated in the restaurant area.

wagamama Oxford Relaunch

I think it’s common knowledge among vegans that wagamama is a relative haven of vegan food, and Oxford residents have been patiently waiting months for the restaurant in the city to open its doors again.

Review: The Folly Vegan Tasting Menu

A last-minute tip off from a friend led me to learn that The Folly was launching a vegan tasting menu, the test run being last Sunday evening. I wouldnโ€™t ordinarily be looking out for vegan events at The Folly as they have nothing vegan-friendly on their regular dining menu at all, but a look at the tasting menu suggested this had the makings of a really great experience…

Review: The Nosebag

I had heard lots of good things about the veggie options at The Nosebag in town, so arranging a catch up with a friend felt like a good opportunity to try the place out. The Nosebag offers a seasonal menu featuring a handful of hot vegan dishes, as well as an array of salads which you can pick and mix from if you prefer.

Review: Cinnamon Kitchen

Cinnamon Kitchen was one of the first restaurants to open in the new Westgate on the rooftop terrace, serving up creative modern-Indian dishes in an elegant setting. I’d spied the menu before they opened and there are plenty of veggie-friendly dishes featured, but I wasn’t sure how much they’d be able to offer vegans with the dairy seemingly featuring heavily. Review: Banana Tree

I’ve visited Banana Tree a couple of times before when I wasn’t vegan, and felt that it was quite hit and miss – if you ordered well, you’d love it, but if you made the wrong choice, you’d leave feeling pretty disappointed. Exploring the vegetarian menu though (most of which is also vegan), I found myself faced with way too many choices.

Review: Thali

Following a successful trial of a new vegan dish on the Thali festive menu which I unfortunately didn’t get a chance to try at the time, I was very happy to hear it’s been added it as a permanent fixture, and in good time for those taking part in Veganuary to enjoy it.

Review: Wagamama Noodle Lab

Half of the Soho Noodle Lab menu consists of a selection of the dishes on offer at Wagamama branches across the country, while the other half features a range of limited edition meals, at a reduced price in order for them to collect feedback. It was great to see that a number of these were vegan, showing that Wagamama is listening to feedback that we want more plant-based options!

Earlier this week, I went for dinner with a friend to YO! Sushi, who currently are promoting their January sale featuring 11 vegan dishes, all at ยฃ2.80 Monday-Friday, including two new options that have been added specially to the menu.

Review: Shoryu Ramen

On a chilly evening just before Christmas, I visited the newly opened Shoryu Ramen in the Westgate shopping centre for dinner with my boyfriend Jamie. We received a warm welcome and were taken to our seats with the beating of a traditional Japanese drum and ‘irasshaimase’ greeting shouted by all the staff.
