Review: The Gardeners Arms

The Jericho withdrawals currently feeling very real after I left Oxford University Press, I made plans to meet a friend back in that part of the city for dinner, before a trip to the theatre. Despite having worked a stone’s throw away from the only vegetarian pub in Oxford for over two years, I had […]

Review: Roll With Me Sushi

When I got in touch with Roll With Me Sushi, based in Kidlington, to ask whether they would consider delivering to East Oxford, the wonderful Sue offered to put me together a sample platter so I could try a few more of the different vegan options that are available on their rotating weekly menu.

Review: Chaat Street Food Feast

Before we even start with the review, I want to apologise for the poor quality photography. I use my iPhone for my blog photos and while the atmosphere of the Chaat Supper Club was perfect for an intimate supper club in the low-lit Silvie with tealights, this did not make for good photos. I don’t […]

Review: Al-Shami

On offer at the Lebanese restaurant is a plethora of traditional hot and cold mezze as well as larger dishes, and vegans are spoilt for choice with a large number of these being clearly labelled as vegan on the printed version of the menu.

Event: VeloVedic Cycling and Yoga Retreat

Those who know me know I love to exercise, and keeping fit is a big part of my life, but one thing I don’t do very much at all is cycling – not even of the spin class variety. At a first glance their menu seemed pretty vegan friendly, but I messaged them in advance and they provided me with a really helpful list of all the options that are either vegan, or can be adapted if you ask.

Event: Kerb’s Livin’ on the Veg

As you might have gathered from my Wilderness Festival food round-up, I love street food. I love the passion and care that food truck owners clearly have for their food, and really admire them for cooking up what are often beautiful dishes with lots of different elements, in the tiniest of kitchens under pressured circumstances.

Review: Franco Manca

Sourdough pizza restaurant Franco Manca is the latest addition to the plethora of food options on George Street, and I was very happy to be invited to try out their vegan pizza the week after they opened on 14th August.

Review: Thali

New Indian restaurant Thali opened on George Street at the end of last month and is a welcome bright addition amongst the row of mostly large-scale chain restaurants. I was very happy to receive an invitation from the lovely people at Thali to try their food – and it didn’t disappoint.

Review: The White Rabbit

The White Rabbit Vegana pizza is topped with sundried tomatoes, courgette, peppers, and rocket. For once I didn’t feel the need to swap any of the toppings for something else on their list because these ones were really well thought out and it sounded delicious as it was.
